The following is the farewell letter to Vero Beach and Florida from beloved tennis teacher for the Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation and the Treasure Coast Tennis Association Tim Palmer.
Farewell to Florida tennis –
and thanks for all the memories!
When we moved to Vero Beach in August 2016, I had never heard of the Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation. But that fall I found myself teaching in the MFCF after-school tennis programs. I’ve never stopped, and what a blessing it’s been.
One of the great things about tennis – and I always tell this to children – is that once you get pretty good at it, you can travel anywhere in the world and make new friends.
In a few weeks, my wife, our son and I will be moving to New Mexico, the state where I grew up and learned to play tennis starting at age 10. And yes, I’ll be involved in tennis there.
But before I go, I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone I have played with, taught with, coached with and planned with. SPECIAL THANKS to all my students and their families.
Tennis truly is a sport for a lifetime – one that creates lifelong memories and relationships.
