Vero Beach Doubles Champion Alex Razeghi Wins Wimbledon Junior Doubles Championship

Alex Razeghi, whose left-handed angles and solid baseline play led him to the doubles title at the Mardy Fish Futures event in Vero Beach last April, is a Wimbledon champion.

Razeghi paired with German Max Schoenhaus to win the Wimbledon junior boys doubles title on Sunday for his first career junior Grand Slam tournament title. Razeghi and Shoenhaus defeated the Czech team of Jan Klimas and and Jan Kumstat 7-6(1), 6-4, in the boys final. The two were a last minute pairing at Roland Garros and went on to reach the junior boys’ semifinals there. The two saved a match point in their quarterfinal win over No. 1 seeds Federico Cina of Italy and Czech Maxim Mrva.

“I think we complement each other really well,” said Razeghi of his pairing with Schoenhaus, as reported by Colette Lewis of ZooTennis.  “He has the power and I have the placement. His weaknesses are my strengths and my weaknesses are his strengths, and both of us at the net are really good, so that’s the difference I think.”

Razeghi paired with Cooper Woestendick at the Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation Tennis Championships last April at the Vero Beach Tennis & Fitness Club to win their first ever pro title beating fellow Americans Miles and Alex Jones in the final.

Competitors at Vero Beach in 2024 have claimed titles at all three Grand Slam tournaments this year as Woestendick won the Australian Open junior doubles title with partner Max Exsted and Kaylan Bigun won the boys’ singles title at Roland Garros in June.

Woestendick and Exsted lost in the semifinals of junior Wimbledon. Bigun, now the world’s No. 1 junior, reached the quarterfinals in singles and the doubles semifinal with Jagger Leach, the son of Hall of Famer Lindsay Davenport. Razeghi lost in the first round of singles at the All England Club while Woestendick lost in the third round.
